INV2ERP · Autodesk Inventor add-in

Autodesk Inventor to SAP Business One Integration

Send the open assembly from the Inventor ribbon and INV2ERP creates it in SAP Business One: the items, the bills of materials for the assembly and its sub-assemblies, and every line, with your company's rules applied. The ERP data pane in Inventor then shows where the two differ.

Inventor and SAP Business One

From the design to SAP Business One without retyping it

Every design in Autodesk Inventor has to become items and a bill of materials in SAP Business One. Typed in by hand, that is slow and easy to get wrong, and a later design change has to be found and keyed in again.

INV2ERP connects the two inside Inventor. It reads the iProperties of the assembly and every component below it, a field mapping decides which property fills which SAP Business One field, and an optional macro holds the rules that go further. No PDM system is required.

  • All levels from the ribbon

Items, bills of materials and lines for the assembly and its sub-assemblies.

  • Differences in red

The ERP data pane compares Inventor with SAP Business One.

  • Set up once

Which iProperty fills which field, and fixed values such as the item group.

  • Rules in plain words

The AI writes the rule, you approve, the preview shows the result.

Inventor to SAP Business One: send, check and add a Buy/Make rule

The engine assembly is sent all levels from the Inventor ribbon, its bill of materials is opened in SAP Business One, a changed description is caught in Inventor, and the assistant previews Buy and Make before anything is sent.

How it works

From the Inventor assembly to SAP Business One

INV2ERP send dialog for SAP Business One: every item of the Inventor engine assembly Created, the bill of materials lines Created\Updated

Send

Send to SAP Business One, all levels

Open the assembly and on the INV2ERP ribbon choose Send to SAP Business One all levels. INV2ERP reads the properties of the assembly and every component below it, applies your rules and creates everything in SAP Business One: the items, the bills of materials for the assembly and its sub-assembly, and every line.

  • One row per item, with what happened to the item and to its bill of materials lines.
  • Anything SAP Business One rejects is listed with its message on the Failed action list tab.

Result in SAP Business One

Item master data and the bill of materials

The items are in the SAP Business One item master data with their descriptions from Inventor. The bill of materials of the engine assembly lists all eight components with their quantities: the same structure as in Inventor.

Check in Inventor

Live SAP Business One data inside Inventor

Nobody has to leave Inventor to check. Show ERP item details shows the item live from SAP Business One, and the ERP data pane puts Inventor and SAP Business One side by side.

In the demo the cap screw's description has since changed in Inventor to Conrod Cap Screw M6, while SAP Business One still has Conrod Cap Screw, so that cell is red, before anyone orders the wrong part.

Set up once

Field mapping and fixed values

What goes where is set up once: which Inventor property fills which SAP Business One field, and fixed values such as the item group. The connection to the SAP Business One Service Layer is stored with the settings.

Rules and AI

Your company rules in plain words

Describe a rule in plain words: screws, rings and pins are bought, everything else is made. The AI looks up what it needs in Inventor and SAP Business One, asks for your approval before it changes the field mapping, writes the rule into the macro, checks that it compiles and previews the result on the real assembly.

  • Preview: the cap screw is set to Buy, the other parts to Make.
  • It matches whole words, so a conrod bearing is not taken for a ring.
  • Nothing has been saved or sent at that point.

Questions

Ask about the assembly

Asked whether the component quantities of the assembly match SAP Business One, the assistant reads the bill of materials in Inventor and the live rows in SAP Business One and answers: all of them match, quantity for quantity.

AI chat in Inventor listing the parts of the assembly that already exist in SAP Business One, in one table

Search

What already exists in SAP Business One

Ask which of the parts in the assembly already exist in SAP Business One: the assistant queries the ERP and answers in one table, with what the next send would change.

The assistant works with your own key for Claude, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI or a compatible model, with a ChatGPT sign-in, with a coding agent such as Claude or Gemini, or with your own assistant through the MCP connector. Whatever it proposes, nothing is changed until you approve it.

FAQ

Questions about Inventor and SAP Business One

What does INV2ERP create in SAP Business One from an Inventor assembly?

Send to SAP Business One all levels creates or updates an item for the assembly and every component below it, and a bill of materials with its lines for the assembly and each sub-assembly. The result window shows what happened to each item.

Do we need Autodesk Vault for this?

No. INV2ERP reads the open assembly in Inventor. With Vault, AV2ERP sends released items from the Vault item master to SAP Business One.

Can the ERP data pane compare a bill of materials as of a date?

The pane compares the open assembly with the current bill of materials in SAP Business One, which keeps one current bill of materials per item. Comparing an earlier state as of a date is done from Vault or SOLIDWORKS PDM, where the history is kept.

Which AI models can the assistant use?

Your own key for Claude, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI or a compatible model, a ChatGPT sign-in, a coding agent such as Claude or Gemini, or your own assistant through the MCP connector. The assistant can read both systems, but the field mapping, the macro and the ERP data change only after you approve.

Which ERPs and applications does the same add-in support?

INV2ERP connects Inventor to Business Central, Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business One and Odoo, chosen when you install it. The same engine runs in Autodesk Vault, SOLIDWORKS, SOLIDWORKS PDM and Excel.
