INV2ERP · Autodesk Inventor add-in

Autodesk Inventor to Odoo Integration

Send the open assembly from the Inventor ribbon and INV2ERP creates it in Odoo: the products, the bills of materials for the assembly and its sub-assemblies, and every line, with the picture and the drawing. The ERP data pane in Inventor then shows where the two differ.

Inventor and Odoo

From the design to Odoo manufacturing without retyping it

Every design in Autodesk Inventor has to become products and a bill of materials in Odoo. Typed in by hand, that is slow and easy to get wrong, and a later design change has to be found and keyed in again.

INV2ERP connects the two inside Inventor. It reads the iProperties of the assembly and every component below it, a field mapping decides which property fills which Odoo field, and an optional macro holds the rules that go further. No PDM system is required.

  • All levels from the ribbon

Products, bills of materials and lines for every assembly level.

  • Picture and drawing

The Inventor thumbnail and the drawing PDF travel with the product.

  • Additional actions

Create a routing operation on the bill of materials from Inventor.

  • Rules in plain words

The AI writes the rule, you approve, the preview shows the result.

Inventor to Odoo: send, attach, route, check and add a rule

The engine assembly is sent all levels from the Inventor ribbon, its products and bill of materials are opened in Odoo, a routing operation is created, a changed description is caught in Inventor and the assistant previews a Can be Purchased rule.

How it works

From the Inventor assembly to Odoo

INV2ERP send dialog for Odoo: items Created, BOM header Created and BOM lines Created\Updated for the engine assembly

Send

Send to Odoo, all levels

Open the assembly and on the INV2ERP ribbon choose Send to Odoo all levels. INV2ERP reads the properties of the assembly and every component below it, applies your rules and creates everything in Odoo: the products, the bills of materials for the assembly and its sub-assembly, and every line.

  • One row per item, with columns for the product, the BOM header and the BOM lines.
  • Anything Odoo rejects is listed with its message on the Failed action list tab.
Odoo bill of materials for INV-ENG-1000 Engine Assembly with eight components and their quantities

Result in Odoo

Products and the bill of materials

In Odoo the products are there with their descriptions from Inventor as their names. The bill of materials of the engine assembly lists all eight components with their quantities: the same structure as in Inventor.

Files

The picture and the drawing PDF travel along

The Inventor thumbnail becomes the product's picture in Odoo, and the drawing PDF is attached to the product, so purchasing and production see the part without opening Inventor.

Create routing dialog in Inventor: operation Assembly for INV-ENG-1000 on work center Assembly 1, time 5, status Created

Additional actions

Add what your process needs: a routing

Additional actions add whatever else your process needs. On the INV2ERP ribbon choose Create routing: INV2ERP shows the operation for the assembly with its work center and time, and creates it in Odoo. On the bill of materials it appears as operation Assembly, on work center Assembly 1, five minutes.

Check in Inventor

Live Odoo data inside Inventor

Show ERP item details shows the product live from Odoo, and the ERP data pane puts Inventor and Odoo side by side. In the demo the cap screw's description has since changed in Inventor, so the difference stands out in red, before anyone orders the wrong part.

AI Macro Chat in Inventor asking for approval before each change to the macro for the Can be Purchased rule

Rules and AI

Your company rules in plain words

The field mapping decides which Inventor property fills which Odoo field and holds fixed values such as the product type. For rules that go further, describe them in plain words: screws, rings and pins are bought, so Can be Purchased is ticked for them and unticked for everything else.

The AI looks up what it needs in Inventor and Odoo, asks for your approval before each change, writes the rule into the macro, checks that it compiles and previews the result on the real assembly: only the cap screw can be purchased. Nothing has been sent yet.

AI chat in Inventor: the Odoo bill of materials has the same eight lines as Inventor, with identical quantities

Questions

Ask about the assembly

Asked whether the component quantities of the assembly match Odoo, the assistant reads the bill of materials in Inventor and the live rows in Odoo and answers: all of them match, quantity for quantity.

AI chat in Inventor listing the parts of the assembly that already exist in Odoo, in one table

Search

What already exists in Odoo

Ask which of the parts in the assembly already exist in Odoo: the assistant queries the ERP and answers in one table, and points out what the next send would change.

The assistant works with your own key for Claude, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI or a compatible model, with a ChatGPT sign-in, with a coding agent such as Claude or Gemini, or with your own assistant through the MCP connector. Whatever it proposes, nothing is changed until you approve it.

FAQ

Questions about Inventor and Odoo

What does INV2ERP create in Odoo from an Inventor assembly?

Send to Odoo all levels creates or updates a product for the assembly and every component below it, and a bill of materials with its components for the assembly and each sub-assembly. The Inventor thumbnail becomes the product picture and the drawing PDF is attached.

Can INV2ERP create routings in Odoo?

Yes, as an additional action on the INV2ERP ribbon. Create routing shows the operation, work center and time for the assembly and writes it as an operation on the bill of materials in Odoo.

Do we need Autodesk Vault for this?

No. INV2ERP reads the open assembly in Inventor. With Vault, AV2ERP sends released items from the Vault item master to Odoo and adds a link back to Vault.

Which AI models can the assistant use?

Your own key for Claude, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI or a compatible model, a ChatGPT sign-in, a coding agent such as Claude or Gemini, or your own assistant through the MCP connector. The assistant can read both systems, but the field mapping, the macro and the ERP data change only after you approve.

Which ERPs and applications does the same add-in support?

INV2ERP connects Inventor to Business Central, Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business One and Odoo, chosen when you install it. The same engine runs in Autodesk Vault, SOLIDWORKS, SOLIDWORKS PDM and Excel.
